Volume 19, Number 5________________________________________February 2001

Message from the President

Welcome to 2001,

Unfortunately, the January meeting was canceled. So the year 2001 will have to start off with the February meeting. I cannot make the meeting and apologize in advance. Be sure to check the website for updates and upcoming meeting schedules.

I would like to take a moment to remind the current membership that we need people interested in becoming an officer to step forward and contact the present officers. You can catch us at a meeting, send an email, or call. Think it over and act.

Here's something to think about. I don't know about the rest of you, but it sure seems like the "BMET" field is changing more rapidly. The more computers take over, the more other fields will overlap with us. There are some of you out there that still remember dealing with tubes and board repairs. Now some of your biggest challenges will be figuring out software glitches and finding money to pay for new technology. (Those of you in a position to find the money.) Its not like I've had my head under a rock, but these changes have seemed to accelerate after Y2K. Hold on, jump off, or get run over. Something will happen to you. Prepare yourself now for an ever-changing future.

Well, enough said for now, enjoy life and find time for the BMET meetings.
